Meet the Coaches

Ryan Gros
Head Baseball Coach

Coach Gros is entering his fourth year at Lovejoy High School as the Head Baseball Coach. He began his career coaching high school baseball at McKinney High School spending his first 5 years as an assistant coach (2015 – 2020) coaching both football and baseball and took over as the Head Baseball Coach of the Lions for the 2021 Season. Ryan has spent his summers coaching baseball for the Dallas Patriots and for D-Bat Elite, both of which he played for throughout high school. 

 

Ryan is a 2010 graduate of Highland Park High School where he played baseball for 4 years and served as Senior Captain for the Scots under Fred Oliver in 2010.  Following high school, he continued his education and played baseball at Panola Junior College in Carthage, TX for one year (2011), followed by three years at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith (2012 – 2014). He stayed on at UAFS as a Student Assistant Coach (2015) to finish up his education and graduated from UAFS in the spring of 2015 with a Bachelors of Math Education. 

 

Coach Gros has been married to his wife Reagan for 7 years and has 3 daughters: Remi (4), Addi (3) and Gracie (2). 

Coach Leech is in his 11th year teaching and coaching high school baseball. He coached at North Forney High School, Frisco Memorial High School, and McKinney High School before joining the Lovejoy Leopards in the fall of 2023. 

Mason is a 2009 graduate of Garland High School where he played Varsity baseball for four years and served as a Team Captain for his Junior and Senior seasons. Following high school he continued his education and baseball career at Austin College. Mason was a four year starter for the Roos, receiving All-Conference and Academic All-Conference honors. He graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, remained at Austin College and graduated again in 2014 with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. 

Coach Leech has been married since 2017 to his wife Tiffany and has 2 daughters: McKenna (5) and Maylee (4), and 1 son: Tyler (2).

John Fee
Assistant Baseball Coach

Coach Fee is in his 6th year coaching Baseball and Football at Lovejoy High School. In the Spring Coach Fee works with the Baseball Team focusing on the Varsity Outfielders and heading up the JV Black Team.

He graduated from Austin College in Sherman, Texas in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in History minoring in Education.  

 

Coach Fee started off his life living on a farm in Bowie, TX with his grandparents. He moved around until he found his home in Saginaw, TX playing for the Rough Riders. He was an All-District Football and Basketball Player as well as an All-District Long Jumper. Coach Fee was selected for 1st Team All-State Academic 2 years in a row. He then traveled up to Sherman to play Football for the Kangaroos where he was All-Conference Academic Team. Coach Fee Spent 2 years Coaching football for the Roos before making his way to Lovejoy. 

 

John and his wife Summer have been together for 13 years and live with their sons, J.W., Waylon, and their 4 dogs in Melissa.

Coach McCarty is in his 20th year of Teaching and Coaching overall. This is his 2nd year at Lovejoy HS. In the Fall, Coach Mac is responsible for coaching the Defensive Ends (DL) for the Varsity Football Team and heading up the JV Red Baseball Team in the Spring this year.

 

Coach McCarty came to Lovejoy HS from Mckinney HS, where he was the DL Coach and Throws Coach (Track) for 4 years. He also had stops along the way at Hebron HS, Temple HS, Midlothian HS, and Richardson ISD back in 2004.Coach McCarty earned his B.S. in Kinesiology in 2004 from the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton, TX. He also earned his M.A. in Educational Leadership at UTPB in Midland, TX in the Summer of 2009. Coach Mac played College Football at Missouri Valley College & UNT with his Twin Brother as well. He grew up in Flower Mound, TX and attended Marcus HS, where he played Football, Basketball, Baseball, Track, and Powerlifting for 2 years before moving to Broken Arrow, OK.

 

Coach McCarty has been married to his wife Misty for 14 years this July and they have a son named Braylen "Grey" (12) , 2 Cats, and have lived in Melissa for the past 6 years.
