Meet the Coaches

Ryan Gros
Head Baseball Coach

Coach Gros is entering his fifth year at Lovejoy High School as the Head Baseball Coach. He began his career coaching high school baseball at McKinney High School spending his first 5 years as an assistant coach (2015 – 2020) coaching both football and baseball and took over as the Head Baseball Coach of the Lions for the 2021 Season. Ryan spent his early summers and coaching career coaching baseball for the Dallas Patriots and for D-Bat Elite, both of which he played for throughout high school. 

 

Ryan is a 2010 graduate of Highland Park High School where he played baseball for 4 years and served as Senior Captain for the Scots under Fred Oliver in 2010.  Following high school, he continued his education and played baseball at Panola Junior College in Carthage, TX for one year (2011), followed by three years at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith (2012 – 2014). He stayed on at UAFS as a Student Assistant Coach (2015) to finish up his education and graduated from UAFS in the spring of 2015 with a Bachelors of Math Education. 

 

Coach Gros and his wife Reagan have 3 daughters: Remi (5), Addi (4) and Gracie (3). 

Coach Leech is in his 12th year teaching and coaching high school baseball. He coached at North Forney High School, Frisco Memorial High School, and McKinney High School before joining the Lovejoy Leopards in the fall of 2023. 

 

Mason is a 2009 graduate of Garland High School where he played Varsity baseball for four years and served as a Team Captain for his Junior and Senior seasons. Following high school he continued his education and baseball career at Austin College. Mason was a four year starter for the Roos, receiving All-Conference and Academic All-Conference honors. He graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, remained at Austin College and graduated again in 2014 with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. 

 

Coach Leech has been married since 2017 to his wife Tiffany and has 2 daughters: McKenna (6) and Maylee (5), and 1 son: Tyler (3).

Tommy Bowden
Assistant Baseball Coach

Coach Bowden is in his first year at Lovejoy High School. He has been an assistant football and baseball coach at Rockport-Fulton High School and Arlington Martin High School prior to this year. 

 

Coach Bowden is a 2019 graduate of Brownwood High School, where he played Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Track. He was a football team captain his junior and senior year and state finalist in track in 3 events. Coach Bowden went on to play college football at The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where he served on the teams learshipship council  and was a 1st team All Conference Safety on the 2021 National Championship Team. He graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. 

 

Coach Bowden has been married to his wife Claire for 2 years and they will be expecting their first child in March. 

Coach Hill is in his sixth year of teaching and coaching high school football and baseball. He previously coached at Corsicana High School and Brownwood High School before joining the Lovejoy Leopards in the fall of 2025. While serving in multiple coaching roles across both sports, his primary focus within the baseball program has been pitching development and mental game. Coach Hill graduated from Brenham High School in 2015 as a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. He was a four-year starter and All-District selection in baseball. He also served as captain of the football team and helped lead Brenham to a state championship appearance, earning TSWA All-State honors at quarterback. Coach Hill continued his athletic career at the University of Montana, where he played football and earned a degree in Accounting in 2019. That same year, he was drafted by the Boston Red Sox as a left-handed pitcher.

 

Coach Hill married his wife, Paige, in 2023, and they have one daughter, Charlotte.
